ABOUT ASHOWA

Sustainable Fashion, Rooted in Culture

Ashowa — meaning “our clothes” — is a circular African fashion platform dedicated to preserving culture through conscious style, community and sustainability.

Across Africa and the diaspora, garments such as Aso Ebi are far more than clothing. They represent celebration, identity, belonging and shared experiences. Yet many of these beautiful pieces are worn once, stored away and forgotten despite the craftsmanship, memories and cultural significance woven into them.

Ashowa was created to change that. We are building a community-driven platform where African fashion can be reworn, restyled, resold, repurposed and celebrated beyond a single occasion.

Our Story

Ashowa was born from a deep appreciation for African culture, celebration and craftsmanship.

In many communities, occasion wear plays an important role in weddings, naming ceremonies, festivals, birthdays and family gatherings. These garments often carry emotional value, personal memories and a strong sense of identity.

Through our community listings and curated fashion spaces, individuals can give preloved garments a new life while helping others access quality occasion wear more sustainably and affordably.

Circular Fashion With Purpose

At Ashowa, sustainability is not a trend — it is part of our foundation. We believe fashion should be worn, shared and valued for longer.

Sustainability and
Community Focus

At Ashowa, sustainability isn’t just a feature – it’s a foundation. In a world shaped by fast fashion and excess, we offer a different path rooted in tradition, value, and mindful consumption. African garments like Aso Ebi are rich in meaning and craftsmanship, yet too often worn once and forgotten. By enabling their resale and reuse, we help extend their life and reduce textile waste.
